Similarities between the Galaxy S22 Ultra and iPhone 13 Pro Max

The two models have little in common. Still, it is possible to see some similarities, albeit with important differences. Check out the main points:

Screen with slight advantage for the Galaxy S22 Ultra

The difference in size is minimal. The iPhone 13 Pro Max, on the other hand, has a 6.7-inch display. The Samsung device bets on QuadHD+ quality, with a variable refresh rate from 10 to 120Hz, and can increase to 240 Hz in game mode. The Apple model, in turn, has Super Retina XDR OLED, with a refresh rate of 120 Hz.

The two companies bet a lot on strengthening their screens. The iPhone 13 Pro Max has Ceramic Shield protection. According to Apple, it is the most resistant glass today. The company behind the quality is Corning, the same maker of the Gorilla Glass Victus Plus used in the Galaxy S22 Ultra. The iPhone 13 Pro Max screen promises greater durability, without losing the optical quality of the screen.

similar batteries

The batteries of the two cell phones are also similar. The Galaxy S22 Ultra has 5,000 mAh, slightly more than the 4,352 mAh of the iPhone 13 Pro Max. In practice, the devices have very similar autonomy. The expectation is that the two phones will be able to work for more than a day without the need for charging.

According to the website DXOMark, which specializes in cell phone tests, the iPhone 13 Pro Max has the third best battery in the world. The device reaches 20 hours of autonomy in heavy use, but can withstand up to 68 hours in moderate use, consuming about 4 hours a day.

The Galaxy S22 Ultra, which was launched in Brazil by Samsung at an event on February 15, does not come with a charger in the box, being sold separately. The fact has generated criticism from users, but it also follows the line of Apple itself, which repeated the gesture with the iPhone 13 Pro Max.

Differences between iPhone 13 Pro Max and Galaxy S22 Ultra

The list of differences between the two phones is long. Whether in the cameras or in the internal storage, the devices have specific settings that can please the most different user profiles.

Camera quality

Let’s start with the cameras. The Galaxy S22 Ultra takes advantage of having four rear cameras, the main one with a 108 MP sensor. The iPhone 13 Pro Max, on the other hand, bets on three lenses with 12 MP sensors, the same pattern used in the front camera.

The front camera of the Galaxy S22 Ultra, the famous “selfie camera”, features 40 MP (f/2.2 and 80º), unchanged from its predecessor. Also present on the S22 and S22+, the “Nightography” feature is on the Galaxy S22 Ultra. Samsung’s idea is to provide quality photos day or night. The brand highlights that this model has the “most powerful camera” of the manufacturer.

Apple’s cell phone, however, does not look ugly – quite the opposite. The American brand raises the level of photos through its system and processor. In comparisons between the two phones, the images were very similar, with slight differences in detail levels in favor of the Galaxy S22 Ultra. There is, however, a more processed quality on the Samsung model versus a more natural effect on the iPhone 13 Pro Max.

The Samsung cell phone shoots at up to 8k. The iPhone 13 Pro Max, on the other hand, supports recording at up to 4k. Apple’s cell phone, however, has a higher level of stability than the competitor.

Superior performance of the iPhone 13 Pro Max

The iPhone 13 Pro Max uses Apple’s A15 Bionic chip, while the Galaxy S22 Ultra comes with Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Gen 1. In benchmark tests from the PCMag website, released last week, the top-of-the-line iPhone took a lot of advantage over its rival.

According to tests, which evaluate the performance of the devices, the Galaxy S22 Ultra, the most advanced version of the line, achieved 3,433 points in multi-core, 1,232 points in single-core and 448 points in machine learning tests.

The iPhone 13 Pro Max, on the other hand, scored 4,647 points in multi-core tests, 1,735 points in single-core and 948 in machine learning. The brands indicate a 35% higher performance than the Samsung cell phone, according to the website. Tests also indicated an overheating of the Galaxy S22 Ultra at times.

Other tests, however, show a better performance of the Galaxy S22 Ultra during games. The Apple model, in turn, has a better yield in general performance.
